How we compare food prices in a fair and transparent way
We use the same 43 standard items that the Swedish National Pensioners' Organization (PRO) uses in their annual food price survey. This is Sweden's most established method for comparing food prices.

+ 23 additional basic items
We use AI-powered matching to find equivalent products in each store's assortment. Each PRO item is matched against similar products based on name, brand, and category.
If a store is missing an item, we replace the price with the national average (~37 kr per item). This follows PRO's methodology and provides a fair comparison between stores with different assortments.
The normalized price is the sum of actual prices + estimated prices for missing items. This allows you to compare chains fairly, even if they have different numbers of items in stock.
We use several techniques to ensure fair comparison:
Price data is automatically updated weekly based on the latest prices from grocery chains.
Calculations run every Monday at 02:00 to ensure fresh comparisons.
